About
Organisation
BACPAR, with its constitution and service portfolio, consists of an elected executive committee and a membership of over 150 made up of Physiotherapists, Physiotherapy Technicians and Rehabilitation Assistants with varying levels of experience across the country. Associate membership is open to other Allied Health Professionals such as Occupational Therapists, Prosthetist and Nurses.
The association is split into geographical regions whose representatives
are on the executive committee. SPARG, the Scottish Physiotherapy Amputee Research
group (Download the SPARG information sheet (PDF 28kb)), is a sister organisation, and also has a representative on BACPAR’s
executive committee.
Education
BACPAR considers the promotion and facilitation of education in amputee rehabilitation to be its most important role and organises two national study days per year to which BACPAR members are entitled to a substantial discount. Please see Forthcoming Events.
In addition, led by the Regional Representatives, approximately two study events are held annually in each BACPAR region.
BACPAR, in association with the University of Bradford, plans and delivers
a Post-graduate Certificate in Amputee Rehabilitation (Masters Level) – as
part of the Masters in Rehabilitation Programme – for Physiotherapists,
Prosthetists, Orthotists, Occupational Therapists and Nurses working in the
specialised field. Please note that the closing date for applications for the
forthcoming modules is August 2008.

Research
BACPAR supports and promotes evidence based practice and participation in research. BACPAR members are offered guidance and encouragement to present and publish research and audit projects in the field. The Honorary Research Officer can advise on sources of funding for research.
